[Newsletter] The 5 Stages of Toddler Weaning

The Weekly Dispatch

Topics from this week

Hi Reader,

Over the years of helping extended nursing moms, I've found themes and patterns that helped distinguish the needs of a client and how close they actually are to that final nursing session.

These patterns led me to create my Extended Breastfeeding Quiz as a free resource to help guide moms struggling to figure out when and how to wean.

The 5 categories are not linear, although time nursing is a factor. Similar to the emotional cycle of the breastfeeding mom, a lot of what impacts your current stage of weaning is where you are emotionally, as well as your current nursling's milk demands.

Burnt out? You may be in Stage 3: Ready for Breastfeeding Boundaries.

Down to that one special session a day? You may be in Stage 4: Ready to Wean, but you may still need the support to get to the finish line.

Just hit a year and not ready to wean? Learn what to expect in Stage 1 how to make toddler nursing manageable for you.

Each stage brings different and new challenges and rewards, but skipping any may actually make the weaning process harder on you and your child.

If you haven't yet taken the quiz, or if you took it a while ago and feel you are in a new phase of the journey and want a second look, you can check it out HERE.

Beyond being a valuable resource for you, I wanted to share about the quiz today because my guest on the pod this week helped me make it!

On the Pod

When decided to create a quiz, I knew Chanti Zak was the go-to person in the online world to help.

What I didn't expect in our first meeting was to discover that she was a fellow extended nursing mom to multiple children!

Add on that she also lives on a farm in Canada and milks her own cow, and you bet I reached out to hear more about her story.

I'm forever grateful for her help and personal feedback as a toddler nursing mom to help me bring you a resource to make your breastfeeding journey a more enjoyable experience.

You can listen to the episode now on Apple - HERE

And on Spotify - HERE

I need your help!

I am honored to have five 5 start Apple reviews of the show! But having more will help our audience grow. After listening to this week's episode would you go here and leave a review?

Thank you!!

The Weekly Dispatch Topics from this week Hey Reader, I hope this email finds you sipping on your fall beverage of choice, listening to your favorite autumn playlist, and enjoying this time before cold season really sets in. The past couple weeks, I noticed a trend in my IG feed - a lot of gentle parenting bashing. First, was this article from Motherly. Then @thedailytay crept into my feed with back to back reels humorously critiquing our generation's most popular parenting trend. And one got...

The Weekly Dispatch Topics from this week Hi Reader, This weekend we took the train up the CA coast to Santa Barbara to visit family. They live in a very small town called Los Olivos, which basically has a two block main street that is mostly wine tasting restaurants. Scott's aunt and uncle are now in their 60s and successfully raised 3 boys while both working. So of course I was curious; how did they do it? And the answer was clear: they had a village. You see, in spite of the town being so...

The Weekly Dispatch Topics from this week Hi Reader, Happy 4th of July to all my U.S. subscribers! I decided to send this out a day late, since (let's be real) we were all busy yesterday and hopefully not checking too many emails! We are also in Hawaii right now and soaking up the family time, so I can't wait to share more with you about that in my IG stories. But here's the thing. Holidays and vacations are great... but they are also stressful! And add toddler nursing into the mix, and it...
