[Newsletter] Are you afraid to wean?

The Weekly Dispatch

Topics from this week

Hi Reader,

Yesterday in my stories, I discussed how you know you are really ready to wean (if you head over there pretty quickly after this email gets to you, they will still be up!).

And I had this DM conversation based on my story question asking if you'd be ready to wean in the next 5 months:

Can you relate?

I know I can. So many emotions and memories rushed back to me from when we were slowly inching our way to the end of our nursing journey.

Here are just some of the fears you might also be having:

  • Are you afraid if you commit to a date that you are setting yourself up to feel like you’ve failed in some way if you’re still nursing by then?
  • Are you afraid it will alter your relationship with your child in a negative way?
  • Are you afraid life will be harder than it already is?
  • Are you afraid you won’t be as important once you are no long a breastfeeding mom?
  • Is being a nursing mom such a big part of your identity that you aren’t sure who you will be when it’s over?

If you have these fears, you are not alone.

Learning gentle weaning strategies doesn’t mean you have to commit to a specific weaning date.

And gentle weaning incorporates new ways to connect with your child so the love stays when the milk goes away.

It's been over a year since my last live Gentle Toddler Weaning Seminar, and I am planning to do one again next month!

I don't have the details yet, but if you want to get on the waitlist, just reply to this email and I'll send you the official sign up as soon as it's up.

I love my online courses, but there is just something special about being in a room with fellow toddler nursing moms who get it. Plus, I get to answer all your questions too!

If this email resonates with you, then the Gentle Toddler Weaning Seminar is a must attend.

Nicasha Martin is a force. She nursed identical twin girls into toddlerhood during lockdown, and she did it as a solo mom.

She nursed them beyond 2, and is currently breastfeeding her 11 month old baby boy with no end in sight.

And that sums up this week's newsletter!

If you prefer to listen to podcasts on a different platform, just search for Weaning It in any major app. Can't find it? Just reply to the email and I'll send you the link to the app of your choice!

The Weekly Dispatch Topics from this week Hi Reader, Over the years of helping extended nursing moms, I've found themes and patterns that helped distinguish the needs of a client and how close they actually are to that final nursing session. These patterns led me to create my Extended Breastfeeding Quiz as a free resource to help guide moms struggling to figure out when and how to wean. The 5 categories are not linear, although time nursing is a factor. Similar to the emotional cycle of the...

The Weekly Dispatch Topics from this week Hey Reader, I hope this email finds you sipping on your fall beverage of choice, listening to your favorite autumn playlist, and enjoying this time before cold season really sets in. The past couple weeks, I noticed a trend in my IG feed - a lot of gentle parenting bashing. First, was this article from Motherly. Then @thedailytay crept into my feed with back to back reels humorously critiquing our generation's most popular parenting trend. And one got...

The Weekly Dispatch Topics from this week Hi Reader, This weekend we took the train up the CA coast to Santa Barbara to visit family. They live in a very small town called Los Olivos, which basically has a two block main street that is mostly wine tasting restaurants. Scott's aunt and uncle are now in their 60s and successfully raised 3 boys while both working. So of course I was curious; how did they do it? And the answer was clear: they had a village. You see, in spite of the town being so...
